right now i’m currently in school. ever since high school, i’ve been training wrestling then bjj so i’m very used to grappling and conditioning. maybe or maybe not it will speed up progress, but i hear about people in the uk starting at 14-15, and a lot in the us started at 18. since wrestling can take decades to get to wwe (my goal), i figured maybe i should’ve began training years ago i’m 27 and about to start. you just have to have a natural ability and 100% dedicate yourself to it. a lot of guys start at 18 or even younger so make sure you catch up and really do this if you’re starting. never too late to chase your dreams i’m starting training at the age of 24. while the younger guys have more in-ring experience, you’ll notice that your maturity will help you pick up things quickly. seeing all these younger guys being better than you can be demoralising.
i’m in my early 30s, and i know a few other people who got started at my age or slightly later as well. my goal is not to get to wwe, but to keep my day job and work locally on the indies, so i’m fine with being older than the other students. like, if i met you in class, i would consider you a fetus (and i don’t mean that in a pejorative way at all – “young people” in wrestling to me are the ones who are like, 15-21, where there’s still a lot of development ahead of them physically and mentally). i don’t want to blow up your post with a giant novel, but there are perks to being younger and perks to not being younger. plenty guys that you know being famous in the pro wrestling world have started later. i’m 25 and hoping to start training within the next 2 years, so i don’t think you have much to worry about age wise. knowing what i know now, i wish i had have started straight out of high school, but i’m more mature now and now i know for sure it’s what i want to do. and now, at 46, i’m training to get back into ring shape to do one last “run” in the small indies here in the deep south.
