but i am legitimately concerned about the wellbeing and success of the people for whom i would be responsible if i make it to a division in the fleet. where you can make a huge difference is that you have channels with the co and xo in a way that enlisted people never can. at a minimum i believe you have to repay your accession bonus. prototype is more hands on and closer to what you will see in the fleet. if you make it through the program great, if you don’t, then you’re not a good fit for the program and you’ll have the opportunity to join a community you’re better suited for. how did you get through the nr interview if you don’t want to be there? i know sub duty is on a volunteer basis for enlisted and assumed it was the same for officers. either suck it up and make the best of it or seek a civilian career where everything will always go as you desire.
i hear you whole heartedly about going through this, realizing you kinda suck, and worrying you’re going to be a crap divo. you know you’re kinda a tard compared to your peers, and you know that the odds have gone up that you’ll be the crap j.o., endlessly struggle, maybe get picked on, or catch a lot of shit for awhile. if you don’t get out of the school house, you will never get to start up a nuclear reactor or do any other shit close to real. but on the day to day job, no one will treat you like the #. i liked the chance to help with a lot of different things that a normal divo in the fleet might do, and the hours were frankly great. and you need to be conscious of needs of navy. if you quit, i think you have to pay back the bonus, although i think the conditions of quitting matter. also, sobc is so short and useful when you get to the boat, you might want that to be the last stuff you learn.
