hi i’m a pharmacy tech at walgreens and i’m trying to finish ppl’s i only have 4 left. all the keys in rx are normally labeled for the work and exception queues, message queue, f1ing, verify and review, etc. you’ll be using those ones pretty often, though ic+ does have a lot of keyboard combinations that you’ll just have to pick up too. they don’t teach you anything that you would be using in the pharmacy. the general guideline is this, prescription should have frequency (x number of tablets for how many times a day), delivery method (by mouth or topically applied), and if control medication usually a max daily dose (mdd) but most of the time, you can get away with just typing with the + sign as long as the prescription says 1 as the dose.
do not assume the patients have common sense on how to take the medication. assume that they don’t so that you write the instructions carefully and thoroughly. the parenthesis and stuff is just for me to highlight what you should know on the screen(don’t actually use them to type) the “x” just means the frequency. tbh at the end of the day, it’s really the pharmacists job to catch these mistakes. mistakes can happen, but after a while, you learn that a lot would have to go wrong before you fill a prescription by mistake. random stroke of dyslexia by all staffs, computers turning against humanity, patient going blind etc etc i just realized i never answered your question about the sig code ppls… just write down the correct answers and just do it that way if it helps you.
